Brandon Shaw is a Gold Coast based artist whose works can be described as an interpretation and abstraction of the Colour Field painting movement that emerged during the 1940s and early 1950s in New York. After a moderately successful career exhibiting in three different solo shows and a handful of group exhibitions, Shaw continues to explore and develop his vocabulary in painting through repetition on flatly painted canvases. Most of his works, which are drawn from past experiences and observations in the real world, use complementary colours to explore form and shape. The clean and hard-edge lines can often evoke the sensation of familiar & organic shapes or lines, generally representing bodies of water, mountains, roads, shadows and architecture.
