I sit on the couch, in a deep hole of self-pity and frustration, because I have once again, stubbed my toe. Eventually, it’ll be fine because I am the Queen of Cups. Sophia Mary Mac is a multidisciplinary artist based in the Northern Rivers / on Bundjalung Country. She primarily works with oil paint and fine-line ink drawings. Her work explores visceral memory, using painting as a cathartic process to linger within memories and the passage of time. Sophia aims to highlight the spaces and moments in between, a kind of limbo or mundane purgatory. Her practice invites viewers to reflect on the subtle transitions and quiet interludes that make up our everyday lives.
